The gender division of labor for the Tubu people is as follows: men are camel breeders, and women are tied to the home. Women cannot do anything without their husbands’ permission. Unlike ordinary Tubu women, Domagali, Amina and Hanne go across the desert to collect dates. Though the conditions are extreme, selling their date harvest brings them economic independence, pride and confidence.
